SLO 3--Project 3 -Learning Outcomes

SLO1; Reviewing and Editing

For me, proofreading and editing mean taking the time to revisit my own work and find ways to make it clearer, more professional, and better tailored to the readers’ needs. Before taking this course, I often thought that editing was mainly about correcting grammar and spelling errors. Through the third project, I realized that editing also involves adjusting the structure, wording, information density, and even the formatting of a piece. My project focused on cybersecurity issues related to human trafficking, a serious topic that requires careful presentation. While writing the proposal, I had to consider whether people with limited knowledge of cybersecurity or human trafficking would be able to understand my explanations. I also learned that papers and presentations require different editing approaches. Academic papers can include more detailed explanations, while PowerPoint slides should be concise and easy to read. Peer review also made me realize the importance of listening to others’ perspectives. Overall, this experience has made me more aware of how reviewing and editing can enhance my communication and make my content easier for my audience to understand.

SLO2: Content Management

Content management refers to the ability to effectively locate, filter, organize, and present information. I believe this learning outcome is closely related to Project 3, as I need to tackle a topic that involves a large amount of information. While researching cybersecurity and human trafficking, I discovered many areas worth exploring, such as social media, online grooming, privacy, fraud, fake accounts, personal information, and digital security. One of the challenges lies in determining which information is most important, rather than trying to cover everything. I have learned that more information does not necessarily mean a better project. Information must serve a clear purpose and be organized logically so that the audience can understand it. In my presentation, I plan to divide the information into several sections, starting with an explanation of the issue, moving on to identifying warning signs, and concluding with a discussion of possible prevention strategies. I also need to consider how text, images, examples, and other digital content work together. This experience has taught me that effective content management involves making thoughtful choices based on the audience’s needs and how the information should be organized.

SLO3: Production and  Delivery

Production and delivery means to presenting the information I’ve compiled in a way that is suitable for the audience. This is a crucial component of Project 3 because I not only have to write a proposal report but also translate my ideas into a PowerPoint presentation and a video. I’ve learned that information isn’t always presented the same way across different types of media. In a written proposal, I can use paragraphs to elaborate on the relationship between cybersecurity and human trafficking. However, in a presentation, I need to condense the information and enhance its visual impact. Rather than simply reading paragraphs from the slides, I should use keywords, images, examples, and warning symbols, while explaining the details through
